We may need photographs, details of any third parties involved and any other information and documentation relevant to the claim.

Marine claims can be complex

Marine claims can involve much more than repairing a damaged boat. From specialist equipment and machinery to salvage, surveyors, loss adjusters and third parties, understanding what is involved can make a real difference.

At Soak Insure, our team has first-hand knowledge and experience of the marine industry, as well as specialist insurance expertise. This helps us to understand the practical realities of life on the water and provide informed guidance throughout the claims process, helping you navigate what can be a complex situation.

Claims FAQ's

To help us understand your claim and progress it efficiently, we may need, amongst other things:

  • Photographs of any damage
  • Repair estimates or quotations
  • Details of any third parties involved
  • Details of what happened and the circumstances surrounding the incident
  • The date and location of the incident
  • Any other relevant documents or information

Providing as much information as possible at the outset can help avoid unnecessary delays.

Where possible, take photographs and gather relevant information about what has happened; you should contact us as soon as possible so we can explain what you need to do next.

If immediate action is required to prevent further loss or damage, take reasonable steps to mitigate the situation and keep records and receipts for any necessary costs.

Unless necessary to prevent further loss or damage, you should avoid:

  • Authorising or paying for repairs before speaking to us or your insurer
  • Admitting liability or accepting responsibility to a third party
  • Discarding damaged items or equipment before they have been assessed, where this is practical
  • Agreeing to a settlement with another party without discussing it with us first

If you are unsure what to do, contact our team for guidance.

Our dedicated claims team can support you throughout the process and, where necessary, liaise with your insurer, loss adjusters and other parties on your behalf. The exact process will depend on the nature and circumstances of your claim.

Your policy excess is the amount you may need to contribute towards an eligible claim. You can find details of your excess on your policy schedule or contact the Soak team if you are unsure.

Every claim is different. The time it takes will depend on the circumstances, the complexity of the loss and whether further information or assessments are required.

We will keep you updated as your claim progresses and let you know if we need anything further from you.
