Meet Soak Insure’s newest team member, Luis Rusher, who joined us at the end of 2023 as a Client Advisor in our team of Marine Insurance specialists.
Fresh out of sixth form, Luis worked for a kitchen fit-out company, liaising with clients to understand their varying needs and expectations and working with his wider team to ensure these were met. Luis built some invaluable customer service skills in this time, which help him in his day to day role at Soak Insure as a Client Advisor.
Luis now embarks on a career in a sector in which he can combine his passion for sailing, as well as work with the extensive networks he has built over his years of racing, sailing and travelling. From a young age, Luis has participated in yacht racing and sailing trips, which he first found his interest for on a school trip to Cornwall – years later and he has completed voyages to Norway, Amsterdam and across other European waters. His favourite sailing locations are very much weather dependent; Fowey in Cornwall when sunny and Amsterdam when raining. As well as the sailing element, Luis loved showcasing his cooking skills on these trips where he became well-known for his speciality breakfast – peanut butter, banana and honey bagels.
Since his acquisition into the Soak team, Luis has found a particular interest in the commercial aspect of marine insurance; he looks forward to developing his insurance knowledge and applying his insight into the sector to be able to provide valuable advice to our varied clients.

Luis brings a fresh perspective to the business as well as sector relevant knowledge, which will, of course, be invaluable when it comes to understanding our clients’ needs and concerns and being able to support them with their unique insurance queries and requirements.
Luis comments on his time at Soak Insure so far: “My time at Soak so far has knot been too shabby, I’m just sailing my way through it.”… Did we mention he’s also really funny… ?
